um, you know I'm a model...
Apparently this little blondie has been telling teen girls that he's "a model" in hopes to impress them! Here he is in the LLBean Back-to-School catalog.
And, he's not the only one of my clients to make it in. Conner also modeled a backback! Both kids are signed with Stars in San Francisco.

art star
I've been taking pictures of Mia since she was a toddler. It started with some simple headshots for Wilhelmina in NYC and blossomed into a friendship between her mother and me, Mia and my little boy, and lots of great photos!
Mia has been a busy model and can currently be seen online at Saks and The Children's Place. I took this shot of Mia (in the woods) when I visited Connecticut last summer. I'm hoping to be working with Mia again soon when I return to the East Coast this fall for a special project.

there's always Paris
I shot this little girl for Baby Couture Holiday and then for Abe Jones Designs. She finally got a modeling contract with Models, Inc. in San Francisco and mom used me to shoot her comp cards. We did the shoot over the weekend. I'd given the mom some wardrobe suggestions and when she called me shopping from Baby Gap, I got online and picked-out a gorgeous purple summer dress for her. I think I made the right choice...

rain or shine
I first met Mike at his cabin while photographing his son Sawyer. As I'm sure he is most weekends, he was out on the deck, working on his art. Many months later, I couldn't believe it when I walked into his show at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art and saw a large part of his cabin moved and reconstructed right there in the museum. I literally had no idea what I was walking into when I came to the show.
(the following text reprinted from SOAP gallery site)
Mike Shine is a bay area painter who works out of his the funky retro coastal cabin he shares as a studio/second home with his wife and their three sons - all artists. His work can be described as a colorful, sometimes disturbing mixture of driftwood, house paint, Nordic mythology, insomnia, 1970’s pop culture, absinthe, Teutonic philosophy, his wife Marianne, and woodworking skills left over from a previous life. Shine’s art explores how themes of classic mythology, philosophy and psychology relate to modern day mankind. “But in an accessible way, without the pretension, and bullshit,” he emphasizes.
Recently his cabin was recreated in its entirety for the Museum of Craft and Folk Art in San Francisco. It was also recently featured in Readymade magazine, Juxtapoz, High Fructose, Spread Art Culture, Art Ltd, and the SF Chronicle. See more of his work at shinelounge.com.

back-to-school? not so fast!
For those of us with kids, August means that school is looming large. It's all about shopping for supplies, getting new glasses, and finishing that summer work. Still, we gotta remember to take time out for old-fashioned summer fun...

pottery barn cover
I received my Pottery Barn Kids (Back-to-School) catalog this week and was delighted to see my clients gracing the cover! I did their comp card photos for Stars the Agency.
